Curated by Curt Youngblood
August 28 - September 30, 2023
Centenary in Paris integrates incoming first-year students into the Centenary community through an immersive class experience that includes an immersive course in Paris, France. This exhibit features photographs from Centenary’s class of 2027, who took their trip to Paris in August 2023.
Curator Statement
The pictures in this exhibition show the joy of exploration and the thrill of adventuring with new friends. The students’ work captures the moments that filled this trip with lasting memories that range from taking in iconic sights to sharing a meal or walking cobblestone streets.
As I sorted through the submissions, three themes emerged: art and architecture, culinary experiences, and the beauty of the city. These represent not only the iconic sights, but also illustrate connection with the city, delivered with an undertone of community and shared experiences.
It was inspiring to curate this exhibition, and I feel privileged to have had a peek into the Centenary in Paris experience and a glimpse into what the students found important enough to turn into a photograph. The submitted photographs show a trip filled with fun, learning, and adventure.
